Our Anniversary

Tomorrow is our Anniversary. Last week I told David that I really wanted to do something. We really haven't had a chance to go out just the two of us since we have moved so we thought we would get a baby-sitter, but who?

I asked Hilary (a girl I work with, who also has worked in daycare for 8 years) if she would be available Sunday night to watch the kids. I knew she wasn't working so I was hopeful. She said it was no problem she could baby-sit. Little did I know her and David were already conspiring.

Later on in the week Hilary asked if she could just come over Friday night to meet the kids, she didn't want them to freak out...I really didn't think my kids were that type but if they were all more comfortable hey come on over.

So yesterday morning I had to be at work at 6 to do our weekly inventory (YUCK)! Hilary and I talked about her coming over, then she went off to daycare and I worked at Sun Tan City for the day. At 4:20 I left the store. David called asking where I was, told him I was on my way to pick up Janie and would then be home, he sounded like he was already on his way, which isn't too surprising, it was Friday and he and his boss both get a little antsy to leave in the afternoons.

So I picked up Janie and headed home. When I got there, David and Alex were waiting with a bag and card. I opened the card first, it was your typical, I love my wife, can't live without you, anniversary card, but handwritten on a piece of paper was this poem

Jeanné,
I have a great big secret
And somehow this time I was able to keep it
Janie knew and Hilary too
But somehow we were able to keep it from you
Tonight is the night we go on our date
Our Anniversary is Sunday but I just couldn't wait
September's is where we'll be eating soon
then off to a movie that's not a cartoon
So get yourself ready Hilary is on her way
I am hoping you will always remember this day
I love you so much with all of my heart
And I knew that I would from the very start
Happy Anniversary to a very special wife
That I will be with for the rest of my life
Love,
David

I was totally shocked. David can NEVER keep a secret from me! AND to top it off he got me a North Face Jacket I've really been wanting. So I rushed to get ready and Hilary came over to watch the kids...and off we went.

We went to September's which is totally amazing. It's owned by a lady named September and it's more of an upscale restaurant. She does wine tastings that we went to once when Gary and Joy visited right after we moved. And its just really amazing food. I ordered a hand-mulled Mojito. It was amazing. I took pictures with my iPhone so I could share with everyone.

They then brought us bread with dipping oil. It was so good, we also ordered a spinach and artichoke appetizer to eat. ALSO Amazing!

We ordered our meal. I got a filet, which could melt in your mouth. It was supposed to come with spinach bread pudding, which did not sound appetizing to me so I substituted the overstuffed baked potato! So good! David got the Pepper-Crusted Duck breast. It was very good. He did try the spinach bread pudding. He liked it. It was just okay. My potato was much better! I started eating my food before I remembered to take pictures, but you get the idea!

We were trying to decide on desserts when our waiter brought the dessert tray over. How could you say no! We got the Sunken Pecan Cheesecake. OH my GOODNESS! It was cheesecake with pecan pie filling in the middle..to die for. YUMMY!

When we left dinner we walked to the movie theater. Every movie we wanted to see was going to start at that very minute or had already started, so we didn't want to wait another hour to see a movie, we shopped for a bit, and headed home.

The kids had an amazing time with Hilary, they didn't want us to come home. And they can't wait for her to come back. And we had a great time too. After dinner we kept thinking who we knew that would love September's. We totally agreed that food snobs like Bob and Terri would love it! :-) Actually they are having some great wine tastings coming up, and a cigar and tequila tasting as well. David is really hoping Bob gets a spring break and wants to visit!

It was an amazing anniversary two days early! And I know we ate meat on Friday, but since we were celebrating we get a reprieve right? So I hope this explains why my other post was late!

Thanks David, Janie and Hilary for the great surprise!

Favorite Photo Friday...a little late

Next to my Mom, the person I look up to most is my sister. Ever since I was little I wanted to be just like her. In some ways we are complete opposites but in others completely alike. She is definitely my best friend, and I miss her terribly. This picture is of her in high school in her cheerleading uniform, of course I had one to match, I stood on the sidelines and cheered with her. And of course Kristy and I were inseparable when we were little so she's in here too! I miss them both!

Sorry this post it late, I'll explain in my next post!

Shopping

Last night we went to Dillard's. If you haven't heard they are having an amazing sale right now. All of their Winter Clearance is an additional 40% off. So David got a new coat, two work shirts, and a new pair of shoes. Alex got a coat for next year, a sweater, and two Polo's. Janie got a Christmas dress for next year, another dress, some capris and a t-shirt that says "I'm kind of a big deal"...totally her! And I got nada! But that's okay I love shopping for my family. ANYWAY, I wanted to share how each of my children handled the night.

Alex was totally excited because our Dillard's has three stories, so that meant he got to ride the elevator stairs aka escalator. But after he rode the escalator he laid down on the floor and simply could not go any further. His exact words!

Janie on the other hand had her purse on her shoulder and was ready to go. She was getting ready to buy a gumball when the lady at the cosmetics counter told her they weren't very good, so she asked her if she wanted some of her candy instead. Alex chimed in, "I DO" so instead of giving them each a handful of Robin Eggs, she gave them her whole box. Wasn't that sweet? Talk about southern hospitality. At that moment I knew it was time to go. Janie was okay with being done, she had already gotten four things...but when we got home she tried on absolutely everything, modeling it for us.

Anybody want to take my kids shopping next time??

Favorite Photo Friday

So Alex is quite the Ladies Man. Actually I think he just likes the ladies, I'm not sure it's always returned. Anyway, this is Alex at Jude & Emily's wedding reception. He had been dancing with Elizabeth all night and finally decided that it was time to go in for the kiss. Luckily I caught it on camera. Aren't they cute?

Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day was awesome! David gave Janie and I each a box of chocolates. This is something my dad used to do for me when I was a little girl, and I told David several years ago I thought he should pick up the tradition. He did it all on his own this year. I was so proud of him. And Janie absolutely loves her box of candy.

Susan and Kelley are also here visiting, so instead of waiting in line to try to go out to eat, we decided to do a nice meal in. I went to the grocery store Friday after work and picked out some filets. I of course called Dad to see how thick to have them cut. They were amazingly good. We wrapped them in bacon and David grilled them. SO YUMMY!

We also had a salad, potato casserole, and honey dinner rolls. And Susan and I drank a bottle of So Blue. It was awesome.

Then of course we had cheesecake for dessert. It was good too. I tried a new Paula Deen recipe this time. Janie is totally into Paula Deen. The crust was a little hard to get out of the pan and so most of us had crustless cheesecake, but overall it was good too!

Family Rivalry...Already?

So when we moved, Alex immediately became a Tennessee Fan. Whether its the Tennessee Volunteers of the Titans, he is a total fan. Of course that doesn't go over so well with David. Here they are "fighting" over whose team is the best.

Favorite Photo Friday

Ok so I got this idea from Ashley and hopefully, I will remember to do this every Friday, but every Friday, I am going to try to remember to post one of my favorite photos.

Ok so I know this picture is older, but its one of my favorites. This is when we had our little beagle before Alex was born. Janie took her bowl of Cheerios and ate them with Sadie on the floor. I still laugh when I see it!

Happy Birthday David!

Today is David's 28th Birthday! This morning the kids and I got up and made him breakfast. Alex doesn't think cheesy eggs counts as a birthday! You have to have cake! I am waiting to make his cheesecake until Susan and Kelley come visit this weekend. So a birthday breakfast will have to do for now!

TInk's new bed

Over the weekend we worked on cleaning out the garage. My mom suggested when they came to visit to put Janie's old day bed upstairs and use it for extra company. So that is exactly what we did. This gave us some much needed room in the garage as well. But for some reason Tinkerbelle thinks the bed is for her. And she makes no beans about it. She follows me upstairs, heads straight for the bed, steps up on to it, and lays down. This is the only furniture in the whole house she gets up on! But she's claimed it, so just be careful if you do stay with us, the dog might expect to sleep with you! :-)

My Tears Are Falling Down!

Today has been an incredibly hard day for Janie and Alex to get along. It started first thing this morning when they got up and has continued and continued. One does something to tick off the other and its just continuous. Here they are in trouble on the stairs. I told them they had to sit like that until the learned to get along. And Alex cried "but my tears are falling down"....he wanted to wipe his face. I'm not sure its working, but I remember having to hug Jude a few times! :-)

Fixing To..

Well its official we've been in the "south" too long. The last two days I've caught David mid-sentence. He says he's "Fixin' To ..." What are we going to do?!

Alex and the Wii

I challenge any of you to play Wii with Alex. He will totally kick your butt at tennis. Over the weekend the four of us played. Whoever had Alex on their team won. And we switched it up so all of us got to play with him. He totally loves the Wii. Every night that is the first question he asks when we get home. "CAN I PLAY WII?" It could keep him entertained all night if I let him. Tonight is bath night though, so he's going to have to quit a little early. Anybody want to tackle that argument for me??
