Goofy Boys

I just had to share this picture. The boys were acting silly!

Brownie Obsession

For those of you who have not had the privilege of having a Brownie Obsession at TGI Friday's, you are missing out. Janie and Alex have come to know that they want to go there to eat just to get dessert. We were out on Saturday afternoon, and drove by Friday's and they both said lets go eat there. So instead, I promised them we would make our own Brownie Obsessions at home and no one would have to share. IT WORKED! So we went home and had our own brownies, Vanilla Bean ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce, and NO NUTS. They were very good. As you can see Alex liked his so much, he had to use his left hand to help him eat it too!

Bath Time

I just had to show you what a bath experience looks like when David does it. No wonder there is water everywhere! :-)

I forgot

I also got beautiful flowers from David. He never buys flowers and now I got them twice in one year. Totally crazy. Anyway, here is a picture. Aren't they pretty. I just LOVE lilies!

Tuesday Night Opry

Last night we went to the Opry. We found out its only called the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night, so Tuesday night and Friday night are just called the respective night Opry. It was awesome. We saw Ricky Skaggs, Cadillac Sky (a new bluegrass band signed by Ricky Skaggs label), Jim Ed Brown, Kellie Pickler (Alex totally fell in love with her. He cried when she left stage and kept saying "I just want to shake her hand mommy"), Del McCoury Band, Jeff Bates, Connie Smith and Craig Morgan closed out the show. It was a very neat experience. I can't wait to go back. I want to go to the GRAND OLE OPRY next time. I would also like to go to the Ryman Auditorium and see a show there. I believe Trisha Yearwood will be there soon. Anyway, Here are some pictures from our night!

My Birthday

Today is my birthday. It was great. David got up and got me a coffee from Starbucks and Krispy Kreme donuts. The kids gave me the new Sugarland cd. I love it. Mom sent me apple cake with Courtney, so we sang Happy Birthday and ate that on Monday. Courtney and I also went shopping today. I got 3 shirts, and a pair of capris. Tonight we are going out to eat after Janie has her tumbling class. Its been a great day. And thanks everyone for wishing me a great day! Love you all!

And for all you Meldrem's out there, I had to share how the cake looked after DAVID got to it.

Courtney is Here!!

Courtney is here to visit us this week. The kids have been so excited for her to get here. She got here about 4:30 today. The first thing they made her do? Read a book! Don't they look cute?

Rocky Top, Tennessee

Okay, I have to share this story. At school Alex has a journal. Basically its just a folder with paper in it that his teacher will write notes to us or tell us how he is doing. Today we got a note saying that they were talking today about where they live. And they got out a map to show them. Alex piped up and said, "I live in Rocky Top, Tennessee" His teacher questioned him saying, "Rocky Top" and sure enough he broke into song. He sang the whole refrain part of the song for his class. His teacher thinks maybe he will have to teach it to everybody. I can just see the whole thing happening. I almost cried, I laughed so hard when I read it. Good ole, Rocky Top. Rocky Top, Tennessee!

The Olympics

We have really enjoyed watching The Olympics this last week. Michael Phelps and Shawn Johnson have definitely been our favorites. Last night we watched Michael Phelps get his 7th gold. Alex climbed up in the chair next to me and laid on the other half of my pillow. Janie on the other hand would much rather watch gymnastics over swimming. So she went in our room and watched Nanny McPhee on the Disney Channel.

First Day of First Grade

Janie started school this morning too. She didn't get up as early as Alex, but she was up before her alarm went off. She got dressed, wearing her Jonas brothers shirt she bought with some birthday money, and put on her HEAVY backpack and was ready to go to school. She helped us take Alex into his classroom, and left him a love note, and then we went off to school. We took her in to her classroom and dropped off her stuff, and then went back to the gym so he could wait with the rest of her class for her teacher to pick her up. She did a great job. She gave me a hug and smiled and said good-bye. I can't wait to pick her up tonight to see how the first day was. I'm kind of sad to be all by myself today. But I guess that means I just need to hit the job search that much harder!

First Day of Pre-School

Alex started pre-school this morning. He was up at 6:45 and said, I'm ready to go to my school. I told him he had to eat breakfast and get dressed, so by 7:00 he was ready to go. So he woke up Janie and carried his back pack around for the next forty-five minutes and we finally left at 7:45. He was so excited the whole way there. He pointed it out and said, "That's my school, YAH!!" I told him he could pretend to be a little sad to not get to stay with Mommy all day, but he was ready to go. SO we went in, checked him in, and put all of his stuff in his cubby. Janie and I both left him a love note. Those are little notes that they get read to them after naps everyday. I hope David rememebers to leave him one every morning. Then we had to go to the room next door until his teacher got there. He was a little apprehensive going into the other room, but he found a moose to play with and gave me a hug and was good to go. I have to go back at 9:30 to get my badge made for entry into the building. So I might have to stop in and say hello! Don't you think?

The Tomato Art Festival

Yesterday we went into East Nashville, to the Tomato Art Festival. We went with David's boss Rick, his wife Gloria, and their one year old Samantha. It was a neat little festival totally centered around tomatoes.

There were people dressed as tomatoes, tomato art, areas to paint your hair red, jewelry vendors, music, magicians. It was smaller than we had hoped but the kids had a good time.

Alex talked to a police officer on a Segway and got to take a ride. Unfortunately I couldn't get around quick enough to get a picture of him on it. But Janie got on it and I got a picture of that.

They also tried out hula hooping, until Alex got hit in the mouth with Janie's hula hoop. Then he was done and we had to head on. Later we went to a park close by and walked a mile. I'm so glad it was a nice day. It only got up to about 86 degrees and there was a slight breeze so it wasn't too bad out.

My New Laptop

Yah! I got a new laptop on Friday. I absolultely love it. We went to Best Buy and Circuit City and finally found the deal at Circuit City. I got a Toshiba Satellite. LOVE IT. But not only did we get the laptop, the deal was if you bought a laptop, you got a free carrying bag, Norton Anti-Virus, wireless router and a printer. It rocks. I'm doing all of this on my laptop right now. I get to sit in the living room with the laptop on my lap and everything is wireless. Oh and so is the printer. TOTALLY AWESOME. Janie thinks it's pretty cool too.

Frustrated Part 2

UGH! So I ordered my books, and everything is okay with school. Only 3 classes left. I will take two from August to October, and then the final one from October to December. I have to apply for graduation or something like that. They sent me an email that I can't read, and that is why I'm frustrated. Apparently our computer didn't make the trip to Tennessee so well. We are having lots of problems with the internet and things not loading correctly. I wasn't able to get onto Columbia College's website for two and a half days because of it. That made it hard to order my $400 books. We've called the internet provider, and they say everything looks great. But I can't start online classes on Monday and not be able to get on the website. We unfortunately might have to go shopping this weekend. Not looking forward to it. Hopefully we can find something on sale. Wish us luck!

The Dentist

Today we went to the dentist. It was really a good experience. Janie was a little apprehensive at first, but she did an excellent job. Today she just had x-rays done and they cleaned her teeth. Unfortunately we do have to go back and have some cavities filled. :( But she did a good job, and the dental hygienist was great too. She taught Janie about Mr. Sunshine (the bright light they shine in your face), Mr. Thirsty (the suction thingy), Mrs. Windy, (the air) and she also shot Alex with some water. She gave him a drink and he thought that was really cool, she then asked if he thought she could reach across the room and shot him on the cheek. He thought that was hilarious. Hopefully the next visit will be okay too.

Back To School

We went back to school shopping on Friday. Since it was tax free weekend and the week before schools starts there were a ton of people at Target Friday night while we were there. All in all in went pretty well. We got everything on Janie's list and some Oreo's for Alex. And I got a really cool labeler to label all of Janie's supplies. When we got home, I started to label all of the supplies in the kids' room. Janie decided she was going to help, but after the first box of 24 crayons she got tired of labeling every crayon and needed a break. But I got it all done, and packed in her pretty new back pack. And now its all sitting in the corner of her room waiting for Monday to get here. I can't wait!
